Cool Your Bottom This Summer With The USB Seat Cooler

Summer is hot, we get it, and sitting in our chairs all day will result in some pretty sweaty thighs and bottoms, unless of course you have the luxury of sitting in an air-conditioned room all day. For those who are not so fortunate, Thanko has the solution for you in the form of the “AC Ass Cushion”, or better known as the USB Seat Cooler. It fits on top of your chair and will feature a USB plug, which you can plug it into your computer, keeping your bottom, and the base of of your thighs cool. The power from your computer will power the mini fans built into the cushion, much like how laptop base coolers work, and the wind will be pushed through the mini holes found on the cushion.

Alternatively you can take the cushion and bring it along with you in the car, where thanks to what Thanko refers to a “USB Vehicle Charging Adapter” which plugs into your vehicle’s cigarette lighter, you can keep your bottom cool during a hot drive home. A pretty novel idea, we’ll have to admit, although we’re not sure how durable it actually is. Doesn’t sound like a pleasant experience should you sit on this and break one of the fans, does it?

Porn Found at Osama Bin Laden’s Compound

Porn Found at Osama Bin Laden’s Compound:

U.S. officials have confirmed that a stash of porn was found in Osama bin Laden’s Abbottabad compound.

The porn, which consists of “modern, electronically recorded video,” is “fairly extensive,” the officials told Reuters, which broke the initial story Friday. The officials could not confirm exactly where the porn was discovered in the compound. They also could not confirm whether bin Laden himself had bought or viewed the stash. Though bin Laden’s compound had televisions, it did not have an Internet connection or hard-wired communications network.

The porn cache isn’t the only disclosure to come out of the May 2 raid by Navy SEALS. On May 7, the Pentagon released five videos featuring bin Laden. Those videos, released without audio, show a gray-haired bin Laden watching himself on TV, and on another occasion, rehearsing a speech in front of an armoire. The raid yielded 2.7 terabytes of data and is the “largest collection of senior terrorist materials ever collected,” officials told the AP.

Do you have a problem smiling....Use LED Lights...

Japan gets LED smiles

Trust the Japanese to come up with some really far out ideas from time to time – where we have LED smiles light up the Land of the Rising Sun this time around. This is definitely one interesting body modification mod, although it won’t require a macho pain tolerance level and there isn’t any blood involved. What the LED smiles do would draw a fair number of looks compared to a tattoo or labret, simply because it lets your teeth flash in different colors. The brainchild of Japanese designers Motoi Ishibashi and Daito Manabe, the LED smiles were originally featured in a fashion advertisement in Japan, where it has turned into an accessory for now. No idea on how long this fad is going to last though, but hopefully no one grows a third arm or tail after literally flashing their smiles with these for a long time.

Ferrari 330 GT, the First Car John Lennon Bought, to be Auctioned in Paris on February 5

Ferrari 330 GT Ferrari 330 GT, the First Car John Lennon Bought, to be Auctioned in Paris on February 5

It has been thirty years since John Lennon’s death but even now auctions of articles related to him generate a lot of excitement and aggressive bidding. Braswell Galleries’ annual New Year’s Day auction held last Saturday had some Beatles memorabilia and a white suite that was custom made for Lennon by French designer Ted Lapidus. Owner Kathy Braswell was very happy and excited about the successful event which she said was their biggest event of the year.

Now there is more exciting news for John Lennon fans. The first car he bought after passing the driving test will be seen at the auction block next month. The Ferrari 330 GT 2+2 Coupe was bought by the Beatle in 1965 and is expected to sell for between 120,000 euros (£99,987) and 170,000 euros (£141,000). Lennon’s biographer, Philip Norman has described how the car was purchased in some detail.
Car dealers descended on the singer’s home to offer him luxury cars after the news came in that John had passed the driving test. The Ferrari caught his eye and paid £2,000 for it. Bonhams will be handling the auction in Paris on February the 5th. A rusted green 1972 Chrysler station wagon Lennon and Yoko Ono owned was recently bought by Hank Gioiella of Darien who paid $5,500 (£3,500) for it.

Tombstone Of a Geek...

Geeky Grave...In the honor of a Geek

Picture from Ubergizmo, 13 Jan 2011

The picture above is the tombstone of a 26 year old computer geek named Hu Chuang from China. Hu Chuang was a tech freak and had logged off from his life recently in the course of sending emails to his friends.

Because of his love for computers his parents decided to build and carve a tombstone that looked like a computer. A keyboard and a mouse was also added. The display shows his date of birth and death. His parents even kept his email account open so that his friends and loved ones can keep sending him messages apparently "because who knows, maybe he can read them on the other side".

Facebook Girls in Ads....

Are you in these photos?

Facebook is investing loads of the money in advertising and the most hot selling are the Do You Need a Girlfriend Ads.

Who are these girls ??

- Meet Single Women

- Like Fun Loving Girls

- Want a Girlfriend?

- Girlfriend Chahiye?

- Have Fun with Locals

- Looking for a Date?

- Find your Soulmate

- Meet Hot Singles

- Free Online Dating.......etc..

There could be times when you may see someone you know because these are pictures from some profiles randomly selected. Yes, they are real girls..The natural looks in these pictures makes it genuine. The ads are wisely placed and targeted for different countries. Facebook makes sure that it is not someone from your country. The algorithm used says that the possibility of seeing a known person is minimal and can be 1 out of million. It could be that your photo is being shown in another country.

The problem with these ads is that they look more like an escort service then real dates which is why it is getting extremely popular and bringing loads of money to facebook. FB has also provided the option to give feedback if you dont like these ads. If you click on the X next to the ad this screen pops up-

It doesn't matter which one you select, these advertisements will continue to appear in the sidebar. I find it extremely misleading and annoying and have filled up these feedbacks many times. No action taken from FB as of now.

Mouse for Men concept futuristic mouse

The Mouse for Men concept design offers an interesting take on the mouse that we’ve come to know and love. This concept mouse features a flexible touchscreen display with pressure sensitive technology to enhance the experience. Inspired by a real mouse, this computer mouse features a separable tail, though it doesn’t do much to improve your computer productivity skills. The blue lines on the mouse actually remind us of TRON, but then again, maybe we’ve been watching the movie too much recently.

Facebook Gun Sale Backfires

Apparently there are people trying to sell guns on Facebook. Or at least one guy was, and then his buyers turned the gun on him.

He’d actually had a posting on his Facebook profile advertising the sale of a .38 revolver Adding to the intrigue, the seller’s a convicted felon on parole, according to CBS Chicago.
The four would-be buyers robbed him while he showed them the gun inside a car. They ordered him to get out of the car and drove off with it.
The victim called the police to report the robbery and the police discovered he’s a felon on parole. Police found the car with the four suspects in it, arrested them and also the paroled felon. All five men are behind bars.
We’re glad to know the Chicago police served justice, but feel less comfortable about the fact that a convicted felon on parole was able to post a weapon for sale on Facebook. Even though the site has done a great job of helping law enforcement fight crime, it’s far from perfect.
In the case of the .38 listing, law enforcement caught up with something that might have been going on for a while. Facebook’s burgeoning marketplace may have included not-so-legal weaponry sales for some time now.
Does Facebook need to create stricter rules about what people can sell on the site? Should this include background checks of sellers?

Facebook’s Eldest User Is 103 Years Old

Mature adults are driving the most recent growth in Facebook’s membership, so it makes perfect sense that even the eldest are joining the site. The oldest user appears to be 103-year-old Lillian Lowe of Tenby England.

She became the eldest on Facebook after the previous record oldest member died in July at age 104. Said individual, Ivy Bean, also hailed from England, interestingly enough.

The 103-year-old Lowe told United Press International that she has 34 friends on Facebook, including seven grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. She accesses the site on her iPad, and enthuses:

I love it — it’s very exciting. It’s a wonderful way of finding out about things. I recommend it for any grandparents to keep in touch with family.

Apparently, Facebook spokespeople haven’t confirmed whether Lowe is in fact the eldest. But the way she uses the site appears to be catching on, at least based on what I see happening among my own friends there. Grandparents have been figuring out that their grandkids are logging on daily, or almost that frequently.

Readers, have you seen anyone older than 103 years on Facebook? Who’s the oldest person on your friend list?

Video: Professor Surgically Installs Camera In Head, Starts Tracking the World Behind Him

Camera in Head...

The New York University professor who planned to implant a camera in his head has finally done it.
About a week ago, Wafaa Bilal had a tattoo artist implant a titanium disc on the back of his head, so he can magnetically attach a small surveillance camera. He even set the whole procedure to music — check out this clip from CNN.

Once the soreness subsides, Bilal will wear his camera for a year as it snaps photos at one-minute intervals. The images will be beamed live to the Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art in Qatar as part of a project called “The 3rd I.”

He acknowledges he’ll get a lot of mundane shots — in the clip, you can see his shower curtain and a bottle of what looks to be olive oil — but that’s part of the point, to comment on the “inaccessibility of time and the inability to capture memory and experience.”

Bilal, an Iraqi who fled his country under Saddam Hussein, is known for provocative art installations — earlier this year, he received 105,000 tattoos to commemorate those killed in the Iraq war, for instance. During the project, called “And Counting,” the names of Iraqi cities were tattooed on his back, along with 5,000 red dots to represent the American military personnel killed in Iraq and 100,000 dots in invisible ink, representing the official death toll for Iraqis. The whole procedure was streamed live.

To protect his students’ privacy, Bilal will attach a lens cap to the camera when he’s on the NYU campus. But nothing else is off limits — he will wear it to bed, for instance, and it’s waterproof, so it even goes in the shower. Find out more on his website.

Video: President Obama Meets the Robots of Japan

Along with meeting heads of state and talking free trade, President Obama made some new friends at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Summit last week. Before entering a meeting in Japan, he met a Geminoid F robot and a group of yowling robotic seals.
In the video below, Obama bemusedly listens to a speech by a Geminoid, as robotic seals are heard mewling in the background. He talks to Takanori Shibata, the creator of Paro, and acknowledges the seal 'bots could be helpful in hospitals or other places in need of a pick-me-up. Is the commander-in-chief stressed out? He seems particularly taken with the seals.
Finally, Obama takes a spin in Toyota's i-REAL personal mobility vehicle. He drives about an inch forward and almost leaps out when the machine suddenly tilts back.
We don't care how much the trip cost — video of Obama caressing plush robotic seals is priceless.

Taiwan To Build Tree-Like Skyscraper With Moving Exterior Observation Pods

This translucent tree of a building seems like something that might grace the cover of an old Popular Science as a concept for the very distant future. In fact, construction is set to begin in 2012. The design was selected out of 237 entries in the contest to design the Taiwan Tower, which, at 984 feet, will be the tallest structure in Taichung, Taiwan’s third-largest city.

Its pod-like leaves are mobile observation decks that glide up and down the trunk of the tower. The tree theme stems from the fact that Taiwan is shaped like a leaf, according to Romanian architect Stefan Dorin. He says the observation pods were also influenced by “sci-fi computer gaming culture,” and are made of lightweight materials “borrowed from the spacecraft industry.”

Dorin, of DSBA, in collaboration with upgrade.studio, received four million Taiwan dollars (approximately $130,000) in addition to the right to design the new landmark, financed by the Taichung government.

Not unlike a tree, the Taiwan Tower was designed to be eco-friendly. It has a small footprint at land-level, collects rainwater and purifies it for use as well as generating power from turbines and photovoltaic panels. It also uses a chimney-like system for natural ventilation, and has a geothermal power station in the basement for heating.

Upon completion, the tower will be the focal point for the Taichung Gateway Park, an area being developed after the relocation of the former Taichung Airport.

Password Memory Keeper – Because some things are too easy to forget

How many passwords do you have. Do you remember all of them or do you use same password for all? The disadvantage of having one password for all is if someone hacks one password they have access to all your logins. Thats why it is always recommended and safe to have different passwords. If you are like me who can never remember more then i password then you need to get this Password memory device. It is secure and you can safely save and encrypt all your passwords. Its small and easy to carry around in your pocket.

I can’t begin to tell you how many times I’ve sat in front of my computer trying to pay my electric bill and a few credit cards and realize with horror that it’s due by midnight, it’s 11:59 and I can’t remember the password. Some sites require a capital letter and at least one number and others do not, so my brilliant, albeit, not very secure idea of just using the same darn password for everything has come back to haunt me more than it has helped.
Available on November 19th is the Password Memory Keeper, a little handheld device that easily fits in your pocket or purse that lets you store your usernames, PIN numbers and passwords for up to 50 accounts. I like it better than the numerous downloads available to keep track of passwords, because I never know what computer I’ll be using in order to take care of business. With the Password Memory Keeper on hand, I can take care of my bills anytime, anywhere.
All I am required to remember is one password and I have access to everything I will ever need. Battery operated and secure I can get rid of the 40 post-its I have all over my desk with passwords scribbled on them. For only $29.50 from Frontgate. Excellent!

Facebook Vs Google....The War Of The Web Lords...

Everyone loves to read about the war between the Internet Giants "Google Vs Facebook". It is one of the most entertaining news in the internet. The fight to win has been escalating with continuous slaps as replies to each other which reminds us of the aggressive competitions between Virgin Media and Sky in the UK openly lashing each other. The heat between the web giants has been quite high in last few weeks.
It all started when google tweaked their Terms Of Service about importing Gmail contacts by Social Networking Sites. Google turned off the feature to import gmail contacts. Google thinks facebook is not being fair about sharing its users with other networks, whereas they freely import all google contacts during the time of registration. Without any doubt the fingers are directly pointing Facebook rather than any other Social Networking site.
In few hours Facebook responded back with a new method to get Gmail contacts of a user (the download contacts option).

Google then expressed its "disappointment," as if Facebook were an old friend who had made poor choices in life. Then a facebook engineer slammed back Google in a heated TechCrunch post. The story doesnt end there..Yesterday Google added the digital equivalent of a cigarette-pack warning to the Gmail export contacts page which directly ask users to raise a complaint about their data loss and privacy. Check the hysterical message:

This was done yesterday and we are still expecting a better a reply from Facebook.
The battle is not just limited to contacts and privacy, its also continued in acquiring talents and retaining employees. It is also believed that 25% of Facebook employees are former Googlers. The most recent attrition for google is the creator of Google Wave Lars Rasmussen who quit Google and Joined Facebook. Rasmussen was also one of the cretors of google Maps.
Facing tough competition Google internally announced plans to boost salaries by 10 percent next year in a move widely viewed as an effort to stanch a stream of engineers and managers leaving the search giant for fast-growing rivals like Facebook...
Another field that is threatening Google is their Advertising market. Facebook's chase in advertisement world has been increasing tremendously with just few steps behind google. Facebook's recent contracts with Yahoo and Microsoft also ignited tension for Google who would definitely not like any competition in the world of Search Engines...

'Apocalypse Now' Director Francis Ford Coppola on Blu-ray Presentation, Studio Politics and Staying Passionate

As far as Hollywood's venerated filmmakers are concerned, Francis Ford Coppola is a force of nature. Gregarious and articulate, pragmatic and pretentious, his boundless energy is palpable in every word he utters, even in the wee hours of the morning, and he pulls no punches, whether he's making incisive observations about the movie industry or acknowledging the distance he's gone out on a limb to get his movies made. Because of his vast and accomplished body of work, it's difficult to stake a definitive claim as to which film is his crowning achievement; but in the interim, 'Apocalypse Now' is as suitable a choice as any, and its arrival on Blu-ray this week makes it a particularly worthy topic of conversation, if not celebration.

Navigating fuzzy reception and dropped calls, Coppola recently spoke to Cinematical via telephone in conjunction with the Blu-ray release of 'Apocalypse Now.' In addition to clarifying this collection's legitimate claim as the 'Total Disclosure' edition, Coppola reflected on the production and legacy of the film, and offered a few opinions on the future of the filmmaking industry, not to mention his place within it.

New Software Conveniently Integrates Your Heart Implant With Your Android Phone

The new Human++ system adds one very powerful new peripheral to Android smartphones: your own body.

It interprets electrocardiogram (ECG) readings, and can be used for medicinal or recreational purposes: Let your doctor know that you're having a heart attack, or let your Facebook friends know that you're playing basketball.

Created by Dutch research firm IMEC, Human++ is a type of wireless BAN (body area network). This particular version uses a dongle that actually plugs into your phone's microSD slot (which is one reason it's limited to Android--the iPhone, for one, doesn't have a microSD slot) and receives data over a low-power radio system. Though Bluetooth is more popular, the nRF24L01+ frequency was chosen for its low power requirements. IMEC says a Bluetooth connection would barely last the day, while the RF frequency can last a week.

The sensors from one of IMEC's low-power ECG systems are on a sort of transmitting necklace which communicates with this dongle. That dongle in turn can issue status updates as well as send alerts to a doctor via the smartphone's 3G or Wi-Fi connection--a major step up from the old system, which actually used landlines.

There are non-medical uses for the tech too--athletes and trainers are interested in the ability to remotely track the inner workings of the body in real-time. It's not clear how the system might work with phones, like iOS, Palm WebOS, and Microsoft Windows Phone devices, that don't have expandable microSD slots--maybe an external dongle, rather than a (neater, certainly) internal one.

Using consumer tech to monitor health seems to be a big trend these days: Webcam monitoring, infrared glucose tests, and all kinds of helpful machines are popping up, using gadgets we already have in new and helpful ways.

The Human++ system is still in development, but shows a ton of promise, as proven by the positive reaction it got upon its introduction at this year's Wireless Health Conference in San Diego.
